This Parent & Guardian Enrollment Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between Readcub (“Readcub,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and the parent or legal guardian (“Parent/Guardian,” “you”) enrolling a child (“Participant”) in a Readcub program.
By enrolling a child, you confirm that you have read, understand, and agree to the terms of this Agreement.

1. Parental Consent & Eligibility
By enrolling a child, you represent and confirm that:

You are the parent or legal guardian of the enrolled child.

You have the legal authority to provide consent on the child’s behalf.
-
Your child meets the eligibility requirements for the selected program, including grade level and age.
-
You consent to your child’s participation in all program activities, including online instruction and publishing components.
Participation in Readcub programs is permitted only with active parent or guardian consent.
2. Program Overview & Educational Nature
Readcub programs are educational enrichment experiences designed to support literacy, creativity, and confidence in young writers. Programs may include:

Live online instruction led by certified teachers and/or experienced author mentors

Guided writing, revision, collaboration, and group discussion
-
Participation in a program-produced multi-author book
Important: Readcub programs are not accredited academic courses, not therapy, and do not replace school-based instruction or professional educational services. Parents/guardians should assess whether the program is appropriate for their child’s needs.
3. Online Participation & Conduct

Programs are conducted live online using third-party platforms selected by Readcub.

Parents/guardians are responsible for providing appropriate technology, internet access, and a safe, distraction-free environment.

Children must participate respectfully and follow instructor guidance.

Sessions may be recorded for instructional, quality assurance, and safety purposes.

Readcub may remove participants from a session or program for disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate behavior.

Readcub is not responsible for disruptions caused by technology failures, internet outages, or third-party platforms.
4. Publishing, Copyright & Authorship
4.1 Nature of Publishing
Participation may include inclusion in a program-produced multi-author book. This is an educational experience, not traditional publishing or a vanity press service. No advances or royalties are provided.
4.2 Copyright Ownership
The Participant (through the Parent/Guardian) retains copyright ownership of their original written work.
4.3 License Granted to Readcub
By enrolling, you grant Readcub a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

Edit, format, and prepare the Participant’s work for publication

Publish, reproduce, distribute, display, and sell the work solely as part of the program-produced multi-author book
-
Make the book available in print and digital formats through selected retailers
-
Use the work for archival, educational, and program-related purposes directly connected to the program
This license does not allow Readcub to publish the Participant’s work independently outside the program without additional consent.
4.4 Authorship & Compensation

Each Participant is credited as an author for their contribution

No royalties or compensation are paid to Participants or families
-
Any revenue from book sales supports program costs and future literacy initiatives
5. Children’s Privacy & COPPA Compliance
Readcub complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable privacy laws.

Parent/guardian contact information
Use of Information:

Program participation and instruction

Book publication and author attribution

Program communication and support
Parental Rights:

Review, correct, or request deletion of their child’s information

Withdraw consent at any time (may limit participation in publishing)
Verifiable Parental Consent:
Checkout and Agreement acceptance constitute verifiable parental consent under COPPA.
6. Media & Promotional Use (Optional)
With separate, affirmative parent consent, Readcub may use:

Photos or screenshots from program activities or celebrations

Short excerpts from published work
-
First name and grade level only
Media consent is optional and may be revoked at any time by contacting Readcub in writing.
7. Fees, Refunds & Sponsored Programs

Tuition is due at enrollment unless otherwise stated.

Refunds are available up to 2 calendar days before program start.
-
Refunds are not available once final manuscripts are submitted for formatting and publishing.
-
Sponsored or no-cost programs are not eligible for refunds.
If Readcub must cancel or reschedule a program, families will be notified and offered appropriate alternatives or refunds.
8. Program Changes, Timing & Force Majeure

Session content, instructors, timing, or format may change as needed.

Publishing and book delivery timelines may vary due to printing, production, or distribution factors beyond Readcub’s control.

Readcub is not liable for delays or disruptions caused by events outside its reasonable control, including illness, platform outages, natural disasters, or supply chain disruptions.
9. Limitation of Liability
Participation is voluntary. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

Readcub is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from participation
-
Total liability for any claim related to a program shall not exceed the amount of tuition paid
-
Readcub is not responsible for third-party platforms, retailers, or services
Disclaimer: Readcub does not provide professional educational, medical, psychological, or legal services. Parents/guardians assume all responsibility for determining program suitability.
Nothing in this Agreement limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

This Agreement is governed by the laws of North Carolina.

Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except small claims may be filed in the appropriate court.
-
Class, consolidated, or representative claims are waived.
11. Acceptance of Agreement
By enrolling a child in a Readcub program, you acknowledge that:
